How to Help

We’ve been asked how to get pennies, money, or checks to Elisabeth to support her project. We will not be creating a online donation system. If you would like to make a donation online – please donate directly the Girl Scout of Japan Relief Effort here.

Otherwise, you can either send pennies or a check to us, or if you choose, send it directly to GSUSA (the check – I’m sure they don’t want pennies LOL) and let us know how much you sent, so we can add to the final amount raised to Elisabeth’s total.

Checks can be made out to:
Girl Scouts of the USA-Fund Development
Memo: Girl Scouts of Japan relief efforts

Email Elisabeth at PenniesforJapanGS@yahoo.com for our address if you would like to send it to Elisabeth.

or mailed directly to GSUSA:
Girl Scouts of the USA-Fund Development
Memo: Girl Scouts of Japan relief efforts
P.O. Box 5046
New York, NY 10087-5046

The GSUSA has this message on their site, to reassure anyone about where the money is going:

Where will the funds go?
We can assure you that 100 percent of all relief funds will go to the national organization, Girl Scouts of Japan to be used for families affected by the earthquake and tsunami. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at globalgirlscouting@girlscouts.org.”

If anyone would like to let Elisabeth know how much you’ve raised on her behalf and have your donation amount added to Elisabeth’s total, please let her know by April 29th.

    Hi Elisabeth,

We are writing to inform you that our Troop 10356 in Tamarac, FL joined your efforts. We are tallying up the pennies collected and will be mailing them off to you this weekend. So far we have 1, 046 which far exceeded what we expected to raise.

We applaud your efforts and patrioticism to help Girl Scouts across the globe in Japan.

We wish you success and we hope that you reach your goal.

With much support and gratitude, Junior Troop 10356 04/27/2011
