Good news from Japan!

The Girl Scouts of Japan facebook page reported this on Tuesday:

“Miracle! All girl scouts and leaders are alive in most damaged prefectures!! Finally we could contact all troops in these areas and know how they are. Some of them lost everything but their lives. But, even they are in hard and difficult situations, they are still fine and helping others with girl scout spirit!! Thank all girl scouts for surviving such huge earthquakes and tsunamis!!”

This was an eariler post from March 12th:

Dear Girl Scout and Girl Guide sisters;

Thank you very much for all your warm messages and prayers for people of Japan who are affected by earthquakes and tsunami. The bond among Girl Scouts and Girl Guides are really encouraging and very much appreciated.

The Headquarters of Girl Scouts of Japan is located in Tokyo where we still sensing aftershocks, but all the board members and the staff are OK and able to function as usual.

However, we are still unable to ascertain the safety of our members in the seriously affected area (including Miyagi, Fukushima, Iwate and Ibaraki). The whole impact of the disaster is overwhelming and we are still trying to figure out what is needed and what we can do as Girl Scout. As soon as we get hold of the situation, we will post updates and ask for the necessary support.

I am hoping that all the Girl Scouts in Japan get united to gather courage to face this difficult situation.

 With sincere gratitude for all your support and encouragement,

Teruko WADA, President, Girl Scouts of Japan”

It’s good know that contact was made in these devastated areas! Our heart-felt thoughts are still going out to you!
